Chairman’s update

I must say, this was not the start of year I was hoping for when I returned to Lufbra.  Over ten weeks late, we are finally allowed onto a naked track, and the changing rooms, which haven’t really changed much, are finally completed.  I’m just awaiting the storage space upstairs to be re-opened so I can get rid of the several boxes of LSAC kit I have stored in my very pokey 1 bedroom flat.  “It’ll only be for a couple of days Dan, you don’t mind do you??!!”  Needless to say, Dan is unimpressed.

I feel this is an appropriate opportunity to give my thanks to the people who’ve helped me through.

Dan, you’ve been great as ever.  A constant critic to my ambitious ideas, putting my feet firmly back on the ground.  Nick Dakin, pulling the coaching team together, despite the lack of cash I’ve given you….. and finally my committee.  Some I feel need mentioning here.  Dave Creak has been my star.  Always happy to help and work beyond the call of duty. KT Horne has given me great support, volunteering to be my taxi driver, and keeping spirits high at the punch party, David Parker who is always late to committee meetings, but with the help of Katie Butler is pulling together our BUSA campaign.  Sarah Williams is doing an awesome job of getting the XC girls out of their shells and on to the mud.  Could the girls out do the boys in the Leeds relays teams? I expect Olly Laws will have something to say about that.  Steve Marriott, who despite all the odds has pulled off another cracking Xmas dinner.

And finally, I have to thank all you guys for (mostly) being patient and supportive of the lack of facilities.  I was really impressed on the first Tuesday we got on to the track that there were no accidents!  Everyone really pulled together to try and get out of the separate groups way.  Well done!

So into the New Year.  The BUSA XC and indoor are fast approaching.

1st February – XC – Oxford.

Really close to home so maximum team needed.  We can enter as many people as want to run so get involved.

22/23 February – Indoor – Glasgow.

Not so close but always great atmosphere. Teams will be selected after the Xmas break.

Spectators for all BUSA events are welcome, but due to lack of funds, unsubsidised.

I hope you are all enjoying LSAC and I feel it can only get better.  Enjoy the XMAS break and get your spikes ready to work.

Best wishes

Alice
